Congratulations to Mike, and Stephanie too. You guys have worked so hard and gone through so much. Its finally paid off! The people of San Jose are lucky to have you as a firefighter. (On a completely unrelated note, we're moving from San Jose to Campbell)

CONGRATS MIKE!!!!! You deserve it!!
Congrats Mike, you have really earned it. We are so happy for you guys. I hope when we have a fire, you are the one to...wait
Good job Mike! Have you gone to see the Lamars for some words of wisdom?
Way to go!!
Way to go, Mike. I'm so proud of you. My mom sent me the article about your family of glass artisans. It's too bad it didn't really do justice to the culture of a glass shoppe. You know, tape ball, darts, train hopping, those little boxes, etc. Otherwise it seemed like a good article.
Andy, when you say tape ball, do you mean the time when we actually used a ball made from tape (soft or hard core) hit by the flat of a ruler? Or do you mean when it evolved into practice golf balls and a wiffle ball bat? Either way it was a sweet game. I think 'complacent ball' was my favorite.
Unfortunately I was not around at the dawn of the tape ball era, but came back when it was wiffle balls and bat. The ruler was just used to get the deep ones during collections. I never did publish on the web my essay, "Tape ball, anyone?" that I wrote for my creative writing course I needed as a pre-req.
