I was thinking it would be cool to go north of Yosemite. This would be a good comprimise between Reno and San Jose. Dave could fly in to Reno and we could drive down and meet you.somewhere along route 108. What looks cool from the map was Granite Dome/Lewis Lakes. That could be a first night, then up the Brown Bear Pass. From there, we would have our pick of a hundred mountain lakes on the northern border of Yosemite. I would bet that July might be a good time in these higher elevations.

So far, I like this one best. This is the type of hike I was totally picturing - close enough to Yosemite to get the "Sierra-backpacking vibe" and yet it sounds like it wouldn't be crowded at all. Looks to be closer than Yosemite as well.
I would definitely by up for this, I wonder how good the fishing is? I'd like to try and catch my dinner.
Also, what if we did a trip to New Mexico to see if we can find the gold mine?
jeremy i like the new mexico idea this mike by the way. is this a late spring trip or what
